The brightest moments of my life

Parenting has never been a choice for many, but whenever it comes, we tend to try to just be the perfect or rather the best parents to our kids.

Well, my journey to parenting has never been any easy one. For starters, I am only 22 years old and parenting at my age is never easy due to financial instability. But what more could I do? I love babies and that is my motivation to protect my own.

I knew about her (my girlfriend’s) pregnancy when it was already two months old. She was afraid of telling me all this while since we were a distance apart. I did not notice the changes in her body. Neither did I realise her visits to the loo were too frequent. When she finally told me, she had not made up her mind yet, whether to keep the baby or to “flush” it.

Currently, since our cultures are trying to cope up with the westernization of the world, we tend to want to achieve bigger dreams through education. This has led to many ladies interfering with their pregnancies for fear of compromising their education paths.

However, the case of my girlfriend and I was different. We were both in our final years of University and we had a mutual agreement to keep and protect our baby.

The birth of our baby Cassie was among the brightest moments of my life. Up to now I am very proud of our decision to keep her. Into the journey of being young parents, we have been able to meet our expectations since the child brought with her a lot of intelligence unto us. We know how to save better, make good investment decisions and to take proper care of our baby.

Basically, so many people are new to parenting and wish social media can teach them how to be parents. We started off ours with clips from YouTube and questions to our parents, until we ensured our baby was safe, healthy and happy.

The story of my baby, my girlfriend and the experiences we have been through is part of the inspiration that I have in life. Every day I wake up and the first thing I see is the smile on my baby’s face. It gets me knowing it’s going to be a beautiful day.

Many young people make ignorant and selfish decisions. Everyone could be happy irrespective of their financial status, and to be honest a baby is a blessing. My fellow young parents should be able to understand how to make better decisions, be responsible and appreciate everything that comes our way.

May the Almighty bless everyone reading my story.
