Juliet Mbindyo- Intact regardless

Has your eating changed?
Yes. Now I have snacks in between meals. Otherwise, I have no cravings as such.

How is your social life? Is it different from what you had before?
My social life hasn’t changed. I’m still doing what I used to. Friends and family still have the same access to me. I still go to the places I went to over the weekend before getting pregnant.

What about the office? How are you coping?
My working hours have surely changed. I rest more especially during work hours; and whenever I feel strained or have a difficult morning, I go to work later. How kind my employer is.

Everyone seems to have something that drives them up the wall when they are pregnant. What’s your issue?                                                                                                                                             My biggest challenge has been the wardrobe. Getting a change of clothes is not easy because of back aches. My first trimester was the hardest. That has seen me not looking as sharp as I want to everyday.

And what has made you want to dance around the house?
My husband’s support. He’s just always there- physically, emotionally and spiritually. There has been no single moment I felt alone.

I have the idea that you cannot just wait meet your little hero. What landing plans do you have so far?
We have been preparing in all ways possible. We’ve made space for the baby in the home. We have been doing some shopping and making social and psychological adjustments to be the best parents.

Now, even the strong of the strong have that one little thing that makes them shiver in their boots. What has given you the shivers in your pregnancy?                                                                       I haven’t really experienced a scary moment … but sometimes I get generally anxious, especially after listening to labour experiences. I pray about the anxiety and work remain optimistic.

Finally, what is that name you want to call your little one-that will make you feel good as you mouth it and empower your child when they hear it?                                                                          Well, my husband and I are still in the process of choosing one. We are praying for a name that speaks a great future for the baby.
