It’s Nathan- Says Susan Mwangi

Discovery
My body felt different and sickly almost all the time. My appetite just dropped. Tests confirmed I had urinary tract infection (UTI), which is common when one conceives. Further tests conformed I was going to be a mummy.

Was it planned?
No. It was such a surprise.
What has changed so far?
My body has. I have gained 10 kilos so far. My hair is longer and my skin is lighter and much smoother. Of course, my clothes’ sizes keep getting bigger.

Eating habits?
Surprisingly enough, I have not had cravings. My appetite has thankfully increased, so I make sure I eat frequent small portions of healthy food.

Social life?
I am taking it easy right now. I’m not going out as much. If I need to, it has to be very important because I need to rest and conserve my energy to do a little here and there.

Ward robe?
Mothers-care all the way.
Do you like your body changes?
I think so, I was a bit skinny.

What is your husband’s opinion about it so far?
He doesn’t mind the changes that the pregnancy has brought. He is also okay with having a baby before our first wedding anniversary. He has been very supportive.

What is your favourite bit about this pregnancy?
Feeling my baby move. It’s amazing when he kicks and responds when I rub my tummy.

Have you had any scares?
Yes. There is this day I didn’t feel the baby kick and it really concerned me until I inquired. There was a lot of relief to learn that it is normal for them not to as they could be sleeping.

When is your EDD?
May 12th.

Are you looking forward to it?
Being a first time mum, of course I am.

What plans do you have for the baby?
I may not outline all of them, but the most important one is to dedicate him to God.

Any baby names yet?
Yes! His first name is Nathan – a man who served God and was a leader, in the Bible.
