Priscilla Muhiu -MY BABY TOOK AWAY THE PAIN

Priscilla graced Pregnant Issue 12 cover. Her baby boy, Fidel Otipi (pictured with her), was born on 4 June 2008.

For Priscillah, it is not over yet. She will go back again and try to get a baby girl this time round.

This is despite what she went through before she got her baby boy. ‘I was in labour for a record 16 hours before the doctor decided to induce me.’ She says, adding that this was because her baby was big, which resulted in the slow progression of her labour. After she was induced, Priscillah finally delivered her bundle of joy after only 20 minutes.

‘My baby was very big when he was born; he was 4.1 kg. His skin is delicate and is still peeling up to now.’ she says. However, the doctor assured her that the peeling skin was not something to worry about as the baby would outgrow it after some time.

She says. “The experience was painful. ‘But I forgot all this after I saw my baby.’

To hasten delivery of the baby, and due to his size, she also underwent an episiotomy (a cut in the perineum to enlarge the vaginal outlet). ‘I have been treating the scar by sitting in salty water three times a day. This has speeded up the healing process. Right now I am okay—I can even wear my jeans trousers.’
