My humbling gift

In July , the Gynae confirmed my long awaited news. I was going to have my second baby who I had carefully planned for. So now, Jasmine, my four- and-half year-old girl, would have a sibling and I’d be having someone else shouting ‘mum!’.

The changes
This pregnancy has been quite smooth, unlike the first one. I still have time to meet my buddies who are always there for me. This time round, I have not grown as as I did during my first pregnancy. If something stresses me out, all I need to do is take a nap and I am good. I am basically happy.

My work’s demands are unrelenting despite my body’s current status. That has made planning my day very important. It is about using the least energy possible and catching some rest in between tasks.

Challenge
Most times I do not know how to answer Jasmine’s questions about the ‘coming-soon’, but I try to keep it as truthful as I can. She is so excited about it that she cannot stay an inch away from me.

The cravings
I can eat chicken everyday, at any time.

I long for
My clothes to fit. I have had to give most of them up because the process of wearing them is something close to warfare. Oh, I can’t wait to get back to shape.

Memorable moment
When I learned I was expectant, as mentioned. I could not thank God enough for my humbling gift. For me getting a second baby was not just a guarantee. There are many who don’t. It is by God’s grace.

Some creeps
Labour pains give me the chills-sometimes making me consider a CS. But because I had a normal delivery last time, I know I can do it again. Who knows, it may even pain less.

Arrival plans
I am now shopping for the baby and everything else I need for my house, to avoid the last minute rush. The probable names are all starting with the letter J so that I have a ‘J’ household but with different meanings. I have not done any scan to determine the gender. Being my second baby, I know most what to expect; so a little room for surprises would spice up the moment.
