Celebrating Birth 8

My Experience-Sheila Ceaser
I had my first contractions at 6 am on Sunday 15th, and because I was past my EDD, I was excited.

We cancelled church and headed straight for Nairobi Hospital where we had booked for delivery.

Things didn’t go as I had thought they would. As soon as I reached, I was given some examinations and to my surprise, I was already 2 cm dilated. But I didn’t give birth until the next day. This is because my cervix refused to open further. By 4 pm, I was still 2 cm and the nurse and I were disappointed. So they decided to give me a certain tablet to quicken the labour which I later found out, it only works for 8 hours. Anyway, it worked and by midnight I was ready for delivery. Elliot Jordan Caesar arrived at 1.40 am weighing 3.9 kgs. Praise God!!! Sheila Caesar

Aug 3rd- The doctor told me that she felt that we should induce. I was so annoyed as I wanted a natural birth. I checked into the Nbi Hospital at 11.00 pm.

Aug 4th- Baby’s heartbeat was also abnormally high and the induction couldn’t be done. It later came down, but after induction, baby’s heartbeat became abnormal again. An emergency Caesarean was ordered and baby was born at 8.02 pm

Aug 5th- I had wanted a natural birth with no interventions and it all turned out the opposite. Baby’s cord had been wrapped around her neck causing distress!!! Thank you Lord.

Princess Farida and Isaac, who suffered a miscarriage of their first pregnancy, cannot hide their joy after the safe delivery of their baby girl Shakainah

My Experience- Princess Farida
I received a call from Dubai on Monday ta 6 a.m telling me that my sister had passed at 4 am. Something happened in my stomach, I felt some funny movements and I knew that the baby was shocked too. I started feeling some funny pains and by 2 am on Tuesday I couldn’t stand. I was rushed to the hospital where my gynae indicated that I was on the onset of early labour and I would deliver at 11 am the following day which was on a Wednesday. In the morning I was augmented and my waters broken. They had to add more augmentation for the contractions to become strong but still after 10 hours, the baby hadn’t come. At 5 p.m. I was taken to theatre and delivered a baby girl weighing 4.2 kgs named Shekinah! I woke up 20 minutes later still drowsy, I thank my husband for being so supportive and being there to rub my back which really helped. I thank God for giving us a baby girl because we felt it’s a replacement to our sister who passed away 2 days ago.

Farida Migwalla.
