Celebrating Birth 16

MY EXPERIENCE – Regina Wangari Ngugi

I was just at home on Saturday (12th of July) when labour pains started. My sister-in-law and I were preparing the house awaiting the arrival of my husband from abroad. So I did not tell her I was in pain, in case she takes me to the hospital and I miss the chance to meet my husband the next day. By the afternoon, I could not bear the pains anymore and I told her (my sister-in-law) that I was in pain.

Immediately I checked in the hospital, the nurses checked me and said that I had dilated 3 centimeters. I was given an enema to empty my bowels. It was mightily uncomfortable. At midnight, the doctor came and induced my labour because he noted my progress was slow. Then at 3 am. the doctor saw some greenish liquid coming out and he suspected the baby was in distress. I had to be rushed to the theatre. I was taken through the papers to sign. All went well, and at 6 am, Angel Mathu Kimanzi was born weighing 3.3 kg. My husband was on time to name the baby-Angel.

MY EXPERIENCE- Linet Nyokabi
I was booked for an elective Cs on 7th of July and on 6th July at exactly 5pm, I was in the hospital (nervous and teary because I left my 4 year old daughter crying).

The night was so long and I was scheduled to be operated at 10 am. My gynae told me there was an emergency and I had to wait. It seemed like forever.

Finally at around 11.00 I was wheeled to the theatre and thank God my husband was there to encourage me. It was my second time but I was so nervous.

As told, at exactly 11.45am, baby Wanjiru Kigathi came into the world weighing 3.3 kgs.

I was so happy and together with my husband we give all the glory and honor to God Almighty. May His name be praised. Amen
