My Experience

It was on Sunday, just a normal day for me, did cleaning, cooked, went for shopping and back home. At around midnight I felt some strange pains in my abdominal, I went to the toilet, tried to pee, but nothing came out. I took a bath until 1.30 enjoying the hot water. After the bath, I tried to sleep, but after one hour, that is 2.30, the pain was back again. I asked my husband to take me to the hospital. We were seen by the doctor at 3.00 and immediately, I was taken to the labour ward. My man was asked to leave.

I got shocked when the doctor said I was in labour. I started praying continuously while walking around the labour ward until 4.20 when I safely delivered a baby girl, weighing 3kgs. I thank God for it wasn’t a difficult task for me as I thought. I pushed twice and there, the baby was out!

Corrine Gachina’s baby

I started feeling labour pains on Friday morning at around 4am. It was mainly lower backache. Later in the day, my contractions were within 30 minutes. I anticipated a normal labour and at least that seemed to be inevitable.
I came to the hospital at around 4.30 pm just for a check-up. When the nurse did a vaginal examination, i turned out to be 3cm. I was then admitted at Nairobi Hospital.

From 6.30 pm my contractions became more painful. At least 3 in 10 minutes. At 10.30 my waters broke and by 11.01 baby Ian Mbugua was born weighing 3 kgs. I am very happy that I had a normal labour. Now comes the beginning of the end which is child rearing.
