Angie Ndirangu – he loves my new shape!

How did you discover you were expectant?

I missed my periods and started feeling nauseated at the smell of my otherwise favourite foods. For example, I love chocolate, but all of a sudden, it tasted bitter.

Was it planned?
It was bound to happen because my husband wanted a second baby. It came a bit sooner though. I was very excited, especially for my firstborn, a son He would finally have a playmate.

What has changed so far?

Eating habits
My eating habits have changed—for the better I have dropped most of the junk I now relish fruits and vegetables, and indulge in good home cooking. I am not such a fan of meat.

Social life
My social life is more or less the same. I still meet my friends when I want to. I attend functions—but leave for home early, now that I get tired quickly.

Wardrobe talk
Oh, that changed early. It was a bit frustrating to stop wearing my petite tops so soon after I got pregnant. As you can see. my tummy is quite huge. I had to invest in a whole new wardrobe.

Do you like the changes?
I am okay with how I look, because I have not added that much weight It is just my belly.

What is your hubby’s opinion about it?
He loves the fact that I’m more rounded, from my previous skinny self He says he still finds me beautiful.

What are the crazy things he says about the new you?
The other day he said he can’t actually wait for me to give birth because I make a lot of noise, as in I am fussy, constantly going on about this or the other.

Have you have an embarrassing/bizarre moment?
When I was two months gone, I threw up in a matatu, twice. There was also a day I fainted in the market while shopping for vegetables—thanks to bad morning sickness. Both times, very helpful strangers helped me out.

What is the best thing about this pregnancy?
The fact that I am bringing new life to tins world—for the second time—and the compliments I get from strangers; that I look nice.
