a smile for every kick

I had a recurring headache, which made me think I had either malaria or typhoid, I went to see a physician who recommended a blood test. The results were negative for both conditions. So I went for a pregnancy test,” said Tabitha Nyawira. She told Pregnant more.

The results were positive! This is my very first pregnancy and it is very exciting. Since then…
I do not have any cravings or dislikes, but I consciously eat a lot of greens and fruits.

I have moved to a different stage—soon-to-be a parent and preparing for the responsibilities that come with that. I now want to work even harder to give the best to my child.
My priorities have also changed. I am a mother first, and then the rest follow.
My main source of smiles is within—when the baby moves and kicks.

Challenges

As I approach the delivery date, fatigue has caught, up with me more than ever.
I cannot travel because discomforts set in during and after the journey. I also can’t sleep in any position I wish to, especially my favourite—on my tummy.

All these make me look forward to the EDD. It being my first pregnancy, I have read about childbirth pain. Pain is the only thing I am not looking forward to.

Great moments

Even before the grand arrival, I feel so attached and in love with my baby. I now have a better understanding of the mother-child bond. I cannot wait to be a mother!

Plans

I long to resume my love for travel after delivery; and this time it will be more exciting-besides my husband, it will include my child too!

I plan to be an active parent. I don’t want to just vegetate and dish out responsibilities to my house-help or whoever will be around when my angel finally arrives. Yes, I know I will need help, but the primary responsibilities of parenting will be my husband’s and mine. In this regard, I plan to raise my child to be an independent and responsible citizen.

Baby name

Strangely, this late in the pregnancy my husband and I have not decided on the name yet. We need to make haste.

Fears

A couple of weeks ago, I was a little worried about my baby’s dullness. There was very little movement. This had me scurrying to the doctors to find out why. To my relief, good tidings landed on my ears. The doctor explained that the child moves less when we near delivery.
I no longer worry. A few movements in a day fetch me that smile.
