Celebrating birth 17
MY EXPERIENCE – VICTORIA KAMAU
My EDD was 1st August 2008 but because of my surgery, I had to have a C-section due to uterine scanning which would make it impossible for me to labour. My doc set the surgery date as 20th July but agreed with him as I had wanted my baby born on the 18th July which is Mandela’s birthday. Somehow I believed that if my baby was born then he or she would be destined with greatness. Unfortunately my doc was adamant on changing dates.
So there I was boy planning for the 20th July and not knowing that God had other plans. Come 22th June -It was Saturday afternoon and I had spent most of my morning asleep. After 3 hours or so of waking up, I realised that the baby wasn’t moving much which was unusual as she /he had been very active. I tried poking my stomach, rubbing it…etc but nothing. Finally, I decided to call my doc who advised me to go the hospital immediately. On arrival, he checked for the heartbeat for a while and …finally got one. He then decided that it was safer to go for surgery immediately rather than wait for the 20th as the baby might have been in danger. I was so surprised but I had no choice.
I went into theatre around 5.30pm and woke up around 2 hours later to be told that I had delivered a baby boy! was I surprised!!
I had done a scan at 5 months which showed I would delivered a baby gal- don’t bother checking the sex of the baby. At the end, I didn’t care if it was a boy or a gal just as long as my baby lived. Levi means “Get-aside or the chosen one” and is from the bible as want him to grow up right and in church.
