When keeping your legs warm…

Usually the most neglected part of an expectant woman is her legs. She simply wants them comfortable. And the fact that she hardly gets to see them as her bump grows with the pregnancy, leg/foot wear can become unsightly.

And despite your body being warmer than usual, there are times and places that make your body too cold for comfort. Still focusing on the forsaken legs, we are keen on seeing that your socks, stockings, leg-warmers and tights do not water down your glow.

Socks
Women’s socks have become more and more popular, not just because they help us keep warm and cozy, but as an accessory that gives us a better style and look. Different types of socks go with diverse styles. The following do’s and dont’s will help you as you select your socks.

Do’s

o Buy socks that fit you according to your shoe size
o Get socks that match what you are wearing
o Wear half socks that only cover the tips of your feet when wearing slip-on shoes
o Wear booties which cover your feet but don’t go past your heels when sleeping
o Wear ankle socks when trying to conceal socks
o Put on over the knee socks with skirts or jeans, to keep warm

o Buy socks that have good elastic to make sure the socks stay up the whole day.

Don’ts

o Don’t put on torn socks. Mend them if they get torn
o Don’t wear slouchy socks because they look untidy unless you want a casual look
o Don’t wear socks whose colors clash with what you are wearing

Socks are ‘a must have’ more so with the prediction of the ’El-nino’ rains. Socks help to keep a healthy circulation of blood. Shop around and find socks that can add flavor and life to a long week

Leg-warmers
We all know that legwarmers are good for lounging around the house. On a cold or chilly day, if you slip them on, you are good to go. Like socks, these can also be worn in a variety of styles to suit different purposes. They are comfortable and can be worn with nearly everything! You can also wear them on your hands with a T-shirt or a short sleeved top for extra warmth.

Do’s

o Wear leg warmers with flats
o Wear leg warmers with skirts for a casual look
o Make sure the leg warmers stay above your shoes
o Wear them below the knee
o Don’t be afraid to wear them even though they are not as popular. If you like them, go for it!
o Wear them in cold weather

Don’ts

o Don’t wear legwarmers whose colours clash with what you are wearing
o Don’t wear legwarmers at the work place as they bring an element of informality and it’s considered as tacky

Tights
Tights are a great way to accentuate and show off those curves. They are gaining popularity more as they add glamour and youth to one’s outfit. The key to getting those admiring stares as you walk down the streets is knowing your body type and what tights will flatter your best features to the fullest.

Do’s

o Wear simple, opaque tights in a dark or neutral colour to work
o Be creative. Fishnet tights with a simple black dress and black heels will give you a glamorous look. This look is best for those with slim legs and curves
o Wear thicker tights with dresses and skirts and comfy boots when it’s cold
o For a plus sized person, dark colours are preferred for a maximal slimming effect
o Know your brands and buy good quality tights
o Experiment with the latest fashion trends in terms of shoes, skirts, dresses and the tights themselves for a comfortable and edgy look

Don’ts

o Don’t wear tights whose shade of colour is the same as the outfit you are wearing them with.

Tights may be the makeover that your wardrobe needs to bring out that beautiful you.
