Project baby II
How did you discover you were expectant? I had this joy inside me and I told my husband we pass by the chemist and buy a home test kit and voila, I was right. We had been trying like for two months.
Have you been looking forward to it?
Ooh! Yes! I have enjoyed the growth of the bump week by week and now cannot wait to finally hold my baby. My first born son has even spared all the teddy bears and toys for the baby and I cannot wait to see his reaction once the baby is born.
What has changed so far?
Eating habits-I still enjoy my balanced diet and Amen to that because I don’t do well with cravings.
Social life -This has really changed. Eight hours in the office is a task but itself. By evening, I just want to hit the shower and rest. But I still try to link up with my friends during the day. On weekends, I am totally exhausted and catching up with my son, Muchiri.
Dressing –The first two trimesters have been good since I was fitting very well in my dresses and tops. This last trimester I have had to drop my favourite tops week by week. I have resolved to wearing free dresses and these are really comfortable for this hot weather. I miss my Heels-I have to do with flats on weekdays and flip-flops on weekends.
Do you like the changes?
I like the attention from the boys in my life: my hubby Joe and Son Muchiri. The respect that comes with pregnancy in the offices, bank queues and other public places. This is awesome! The body heat-I don’t have to carry the heavy sweaters everywhere. I dislike my double whammy of constipation.
What is your partner’s opinion about it?
He can wait, especially now that our firstborn has just turned six. We have been missing a baby around our house. He is all busy rearranging the house and creating space for the baby. Working towards painting the baby rooms.
What are the grand things he says about it?
He is already a great dad and he is so excited and cannot wait to be a dad once more. The best moments are after meals and the baby is kicking and his smile says it all more than words can express. He loves and laughs and calls me his ‘sexy belly mama.’
Have you had an embarrassing/bizarre moment? Just remember.
I packed my car in a tight packing and upon opening the door, my tummy would not fit. This was really funny and embarrassing as the guy who had just packed next to me had to reverse for me to fit.
What’s your favourite bit about this pregnancy?
The kicks. We really enjoy these moments with my son and hubby.
Have you had any scares? If yes, which ones?
I woke up with this nightmare, literally jumping from my bed and screaming my head out that rats were feeding and biting on my bump. Oh my God! This was not funny, especially that I had to spend the rest of the night awake. My hubby really laughed at me in the morning but I still don’t think it’s funny.
When is your EDD? What are your plans?
Well, how amazing to share an EDD with baby Jesus? But I pray the baby can be here one week earlier. Currently, I am preparing the baby’s nursery and busy doing the last minute shopping. I have given the honours to my son Muchiri to come up with his favourite names for either a boy or a girl. The only hitch is he seems to have a new favourite every week.
Anything else you want to say?
The joy of carrying a human being in a womb is just amazing. I thank God every morning for seeing me through this. I cannot forget to thank my both families for their support.
