Pregnant accessories!
PATRICIA Wariua-Nyalwal thinks there is a pregnancy outbreak! Or is it because she is pregnant? ‘It is somewhat interesting,” she ponders, ‘how suddenly so many women appear to be pregnant as soon as you conceive or think seriously about having a baby.’
Says Patricia: ‘Just the other day my two pregnant friends and I— why are so many people pregnant this season?—were trying to figure out which is the best pregnant pose to explicitly show the protrusion of the tummy. One friend thought it was the ‘akimbo style’ while another said it was the ‘hands on the back’ pose. I thought simply standing straight is good enough a posture.”
Patricia agonised about this subject for a few days and got inspired to share her thoughts about looking fashionable during pregnancy.
Patricia, now six months pregnant, writes: ‘We all have our views on how to look our best and feel most confident when pregnant. In the beginning when your tummy begins to expand you are hesitant and may not want to immediately change your wardrobe—of course we are all attached to some outfits which we confidently know look good on us. We might insist at first on wearing that fancy trouser that unfortunately doesn’t fit with the zip up. We introduce a safety pin or some other fastener but the truth is that sooner or later the wardrobe’s got to change.
If you really need to cut down on costs then you can think of:
o accepting some pregnancy garments from friends who have been through the pregnancy trail
o getting some loose tops and pants from your man’s wardrobe
o get some ‘wrap rounds’: as they are adjustable you can wear them throughout the pregnancy period
0 buying some neutrals—a pair of trousers or tops that can be ‘mixed and matched’ with other clothes in the wardrobe, like black pants as they can be worn with blouses of various makes and colours.
I think black is beautiful. With the right jewellery, shoes and handbag to match you can never go wrong with black. Add a scarf or jacket if you’re comfortable that way. With black anything goes.
When wearing a plain outfit accessorise it—wear all the jewellery, scarf, necklace and other cute items in your wardrobe. Don’t be scared about mixing and matching; make yourself look really good. When you look good you feel good!’
