Pregnancy and weight
Women who deprive themselves of proper nutrition during pregnancy tend to have smaller or sometimes sickly babies.
According to Zehra Parvani, a nursing instructor at Aga Khan University School of Nursing, extra portions and nutrition means gaining weight. Weight gain during pregnancy, she notes, is good. It’s what you eat that really counts. A nutritious diet is a balanced mix of calories, proteins, vitamins and minerals. It should include cereals, dairy products, fruits and vegetables – all according to the recommended dietary allowances. Proper care in pregnancy and good nutrition equals a healthy baby, even as the baby continues to grow .
