Keeping the Style

It goes without saying that all expectant mothers are beautiful. Their new look, and bigger size which cannot be ignored brings about a special style. It is not only a noble thing to be pregnant but also a time to appreciate; thus, the need to look the part in terms of clothing and accessories that reflect your joy in being expectant.

When worn right, clothes hide our weak areas and highlight our strongest ones. How we wear clothes expresses what we think of ourselves. However as your size changes-especially in your second trimester, your wardrobe shrinks, challenging your desire to remain meticulous in your dressing. And suddenly you have too much to buy that you may get into a dilemma wondering whether to purchase clothes for the short period that you are expectant, or to make do with what you already have for the next few months, so as to save for your child’s needs.

Here are a few ways to manage with the little you have to achieve elegance, be comfortable and ensure you save for other dire needs:

To match the bottoms with the tops avoid either the flowered, short or elastic tops for this period that you are expectant. This is because the elastic fabrics will stretch to reveal your belly button and, perhaps, your stretch marks.

Short tops will also rise and constantly cause your belly to ‘peep’. They may also tear if some areas are strained as you inevitably gain weight.

Flowered tops will not only make you seem bigger, but they will be harder to match with a number of skirts or trousers, especially if they have patterns. Instead go for plain or striped blouses of your own colour choice. Having a variety of tops that are plain coloured or striped will help you to mix and match with the dresses, trousers or skirts. This will keep you away from the uninteresting cycle of wearing a particular outfit, which you deem comfortable, over and over again.

Seek the fabrics that stretch with the pregnancy advancing to avoid having to buy fabrics at every trimester. Get an addition of maternity trousers or skirts to keep you going whether you are at work or relaxing at home. If you feel uncomfortable with having the additional material that accommodates the pregnancy bump, you could look out for a skirt or trouser that is a size or two larger.

Have comfortable footwear. As you approach the second and last trimester, your centre of gravity changes, making high heels forbidden. So, invest in at least five pairs of flat or low heeled shoes. These will help you get through without feeling harassed when you have to do the recommended walking exercises. These shoes are available in trendy varieties such as the wedge-shaped, open-toes and sling- backs; so you do not have to worry about losing style with pregnancy.

Again, the flat or low heels will keep you comfortable when your legs swell-as is usually the case with most women in their last trimester of pregnancy.

Be comfortably warm. Cardigans, coats and jackets can give a clumsy look and get uncomfortable to wear with the bump. That does not mean you stay cold. Pick sweaters that are tied or have just one button at the top of the belly and. open the rest of the way down. Jumpers that are hooded usually have a large size thus are a safe option for staying warm.
