First Word 8
Hi.
One of my greatest challenges as a woman has been choosing the right contraceptive.
Like any other woman of child-bearing age, I am sometimes worried that intimacy might lead to unplanned pregnancy.
However, there are so many uncertainties about which method of contraception to use; what works and what doesn’t; what is more comfortable, and so on.
Many women I know have tried more than one type of contraceptive.
I have a friend who’s hubby was not impressed when she got pregnant, despite the fact that she was on a contraceptive they both believed works—the coil. And true, it does work for most women who use it; she just happened to fall under the odd few.
The important issue to consider, however, is how to cope when a baby you did not plan to have comes along.
I cannot pretend to be the expert on ‘unexpected’ babies, knowing that I had two babies in a row without planning!
Furthermore, I am yet to reach menopause and therefore I might find myself with yet another newborn in future!
What I know, nevertheless, is that a baby is God’s creation; and that creation of a life is a marvel.
Let’s celebrate our babies, irrespective of whether the pregnancy was planned for or not.
