I am Pregnant for the third time

This third pregnancy has been like a “New Thing”. I am comfortable because it was our decision to have a baby. We asked God for this baby, and that night he was conceived, I knew it and it was excellent. It is unlike my previous pregnancies, which have been surprises. When our first-born Nezar was seven months, old I found out that I was pregnant again. We had not used any contraceptive and thought it was a safe day according to my calendar, but we were wrong!

My second pregnancy was the opposite of my first one: I did not want my husband near me. My hormones had were low in testosterone! The baby, a girl, came on the night after Christmas. On Christmas day, I was in early labour the entire day. We named her Irah from Jehovah Jireh, meaning ‘God our provider’. This was because God had seen as through all the hardships. She was born a year and three months after her brother. She is a true gift, after my own likeness!

When I conceived my current pregnancy, my instincts told me it had happened. When I missed my period I wasn’t surprised, I kept referring to the baby as a ‘she’ even though we didn’t/don’t know the sex. When we went for a scan, we opted not to find out; but we felt it is a girl-until now at nine months when I feel like it’s a boy!

In the first three months I really liked sleeping, eating fatty foods and wearing my husband’s sweaters. I didn’t like talking to people, especially females. I also developed a dislike for perfumes. At one time it seemed like every lady in Nairobi was wearing the same perfume! I didn’t mind my husband’s cologne, though at some point I told him to tone it down a bit. My routine was wake up, eat and sleep. I thought it was because I was already thirty and my body was tired, but after my first trimester the laziness disappeared, and I was able to shoot some videos for my CD. I still want my husband very close to me but I pick a fight with him very easily. Am hoping this is the third and last pregnancy.

I thank God for my husband because he has been of great help, especially during this pregnancy. He makes sure the kids are clean, have eaten and do their homework before they go to bed. He helps me a lot, despite the fact that sometimes he comes from work tired. He is a very understanding husband. Of course, I’m not as active as I was in my two previous pregnancies. We are hoping to adopt two more children, so that we can fulfil our dreams of taking care of orphaned or abandoned children.
