Princess Farida

This is a legacy edition story. True stories of past pregnancies in yester days (or years), as published in Pregnant Magazine.

Princess Farida

Sometime last year our pastor called my husband. Isaac, and I to the church and asked what happened to my pregnancy. I told him that I had had a miscarriage. He consoled us, saying that God would restore us, and I would conceive again, before the end of the year (2006).

After the miscarriage, the doctor had told us to wait six months before trying again. We planned to conceive around December, but God wanted it sooner. During the 7th month I conceived.

Hormonal imbalance                                                                                                                                            I had periods every week and in September, the doctor prescribed birth control pills to regulate my hormone levels: he said I had a hormonal imbalance. But deep down in my heart something was telling me not to take the pill…

Food poisoning?                                                                                                                                                            A little later I went to the chemist with a ‘stomach problem’ and they gave me medicine for food poisoning Just before we left the chemist I decided  to take a pregnancy test and it turned positive! You can imagine me still holding the food poison medicine in my hand; having just found out that I was pregnant. I was so happy!

So many questions!                                                                                                                                                I attended most clinics with my husband because he likes asking questions. I also did not want to go to the clinic alone because once I was back home Isaac would ask so many questions; I would not have all the answers and his persistence would irritate me.

A pleasant surprise                                                                                                                                                         I wanted a girl but my husband wanted a boy. Some people even prophesied and said they dreamt that my baby was a boy but I still wanted a girl. We tried checking the baby’s sex three times but the doctor couldn’t tell the sex. My baby wanted to surprise everyone!

In the end I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl (Shekainah) and I feel like she may be a replacement for my sister who passed away just days before my baby was born. That was really sad. Now I’m content with just one baby, although my husband has other plans…

Isaac Migwalla on his wife’s Pregnancy

I was concerned when she started craving ice-cubes, and I tried to discourage it because it made her cough. Before that she craved mangoes and during the first three months it was oranges and chicken from Kenchic! This pregnancy has been wonderful compared to the last one which ended up in a miscarriage, after which we had to wait six months before conceiving again.

We always think doctors know everything. If my wife had taken the pill as the doctor prescribed, maybe we would have ‘missed our season!’
