Jewellery-the Dos and the Don’ts

When you get pregnant, your energy is at the soles of your feet most of the time, which makes you less concerned about your looks. But that need not be the case. Other than make up and great clothes. Jewellery are little pieces whose effect may not seem that significant but can give you a whole make-over.

Jewellery not only gives your looks the finishing touch but upgrades your self-esteem as well. Other than that, it can make you look younger, mature, and classy, thus the need to pick and wear your pieces carefully. The basic criteria are: your height, build and age.

Silver or Gold
Unlike gold, silver jewellery makes you look younger especially if it is in sleek lines and smooth curves. Note that very ethnic silver jewellery can look cheap and untidy if not worn with care. And that a classy and sophisticated look, which is given by heavy designs in both gold and silver, can make you look older, as opposed to trendy.

Earrings
Large studs make you look older than hanging earrings. However, dangling earrings are not always suitable. Small stud earrings are perfect for daily wear as they do not call for a lot of attention to you. If you are tall—and with a swan neck, long dangling earrings will flatter you.

They look especially good with smooth hair. On the other hand, if you are short and petite, wear small earrings, which will not look like weights on you. If you are plump, slightly big studs with a gem would look nice on you. again together with smooth hair-style.

Rings
Slim rings with a small stone are usually worn on the ring-finger. Rings with a gem of more than 10 carats are usually worn on a fore-finger. Though, the best option if you have slim arms and fingers, are small two carats rings. Otherwise, you look heavy-laden. Avoid wearing many rings. More than two rings at a time make you look like a teenager.

Bracelets
Bracelets should be worn on the right wrist. If your bracelet has no gem in the centre, you can wear it loose on your wrist. If it is adorned with a gem or gems at its centre, you do not want to let it dangle around your wrist and hide your gem or gems in the process. Fix it where it will not move about.

Brooches
They are usually worn on the left side of your clothing, just above your butt, or at the collar. Massive brooches can serve as the collar links.

You can also fold a light scarf and pin it up with the brooch. You can also wear the brooch on the waist line now above your bump, to give your, preferably, plain dress that sophisticated look.

Necklaces and pendants
As for necklaces and pendants, the challenge is whether to weal them with high necked or low-cut outfits. There is no restriction here. You just need to let your good taste confirm whether It makes the best of your looks. If you are not confident about your taste, check with one or two honest friends.

How many pieces?
If you have a jewellery set consisting of a bracelet, ring, necklace and earrings, do not put on all of them at the same time! You look too eager and uncreative. Always wear earrings and a bracelet; or necklace and a ring.

Diamond & bright stones
Note that diamonds and other bright stones are mainly for evening wear. They go well with one-coloured dark dresses, preferably black. It is a sin to wear diamond or other bright stone brooches on the coat collar, on denim or leather jackets. That makes you look undecided on whether you want to be easy or dainty. These pieces also clash with knitted or sports clothes.
