Is it normal to be in pain?
Is it normal for one to experience pain in her womb during the first weeks of pregnancy?
It is quite common to have a dull ache in the uterus while pregnant. However if this is intense and one sided, or if associated with bleeding, seek medical attention to rule out possible complications such as ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage and urinary tract infections.
When is my EDD?
The first day of my last period was last year on 31st December, and I engaged in intercourse on 21st January this year. What could be my due date? I have not attended clinic yet since I discovered about my pregnancy.
According to these dates, your EDD should be 7th October. From this calculation, you are almost 25 weeks pregnant. However, an ultrasound can be done to confirm this. Attend clinic for efficient guidance and care. Please refer to the previous page.
How can I get rid of my stretch marks?
I have stretch marks on my waist and thighs, and they appear ugly, big, dark and thick. I had a baby two months ago. Please help or give advice on how to get rid of them I am stressed and always thinking about my appearance.
The stretch marks might be as a result of pregnancy. After delivery, these marks normally become thin and recede. However, it is advisable to see a dermatologist for further advice if they persist. Please note that the results can be disappointing as stretch marks can improve but not disappear.
Resumption of menstruation
How long does it take before a woman resumes menstruation after delivery, and can one be pregnant before resuming menses?
Most mothers will receive their periods four to six weeks after delivery. Those who breastfeed regularly will tend to take longer for their menses to resume. The absence of periods is a general indicator of the absence of ovulation.
How and when does baby start kicking?
I am four months pregnant and would like to know when and how the baby starts kicking while in the womb.
The baby starts to kick at the beginning of the first trimester of pregnancy. The mother may however not perceive this until the 16th week, if she has delivered before: or up to week 24 if it is her first pregnancy. Perception is different. Some feel sudden sharp kicks, while others feel flutters. Any sensation also depends on the level of your alertness.
