A Letter to the Single Mother Who Keeps Going
Dear Single Mother,
There are nights when the house is quiet and your thoughts are loud — when the only thing that listens is the pillow beneath your tears. You think of the questions your child asks, the ones that pierce your heart because you don’t always have the answers. You’re tired, but you still get up. You still show up. Because you are the only one who doesn’t bail out.
You’ve seen things that changed you — moments that broke your heart, lessons that came too early, and days that demanded more strength than you thought you had. Sometimes, in between the noise and the silence, you wish you had done something different. You cry thinking, maybe if I had chosen another path, things would be easier. You cry in your pillow, in the bathroom, in the quiet corners of your world — and still, you rise.
I know the tasks you’re up to. The endless lists, the double shifts, the bills, the small hands that tug at you for attention while your mind runs through a thousand worries. I know the ache of pretending to be strong when inside, you just want someone to tell you it’s okay to rest.
Society doesn’t always see the woman behind the title. They don’t see the courage it takes to hold everything together when the weight of life feels too heavy. They don’t see how you push through judgment, exhaustion, and loneliness, just to make sure your child never feels the lack you silently carry.
But I see you. And I want you to know — you are enough. You are doing more than enough. Every tear you shed, every prayer you whisper, every sacrifice you make — they all matter. You are shaping a life with love, strength, and resilience.
Your journey is not easy, but it is beautiful. It is proof that even in the hardest places, love still grows — and so do you.
With love and deep respect,
Someone Who Sees You
