Are stretch marks ruining your self esteem?
Stretch marks — the dreaded lines that feature at the back of your knees, around the thighs, breasts, and tummy, go beyond disrupting the flow of your skin to giving a little turbulence to your social and emotional well-being.
No sooner do you spot the lines than you begin saying goodbye to sleeveless tops, shorts, and skirts that show off your thighs, making their opposite your resolute fashion preference whenever you shop.
You suddenly get too preoccupied with the young ones to swim in public, but you know that the main culprit of your new disinterest is the fact that the unsightly will be displayed for all and sundry.
There have been reports of squabbles among couples because the missus no longer feels attractive, citing the stretch and a husband who is not making (enough) effort to reassure her. Consequently, the clothes only come off when there is no one in sight or under the cover of darkness. Intimacy then suffers because of that skin anomaly lodged between her and her loved one.
As if the woes are not enough, your passion to pursue your dreams may as well take a nose dive — should you be interested in professions that are very particular about the quality of your skin. Careers and modeling agencies which value a good amount of good ‘show of the leg’ can become evasive.
Well, the most important thing is that womanhood and pregnancy are big life achievements and should never dampen your spirits, keep you away from marital bliss or injure your professional prospects. The proper skin care, which includes a healthy diet and a cream, should see you cruise through these challenges. Even better, take precautionary measures; start applying the cream, and taking lots of water fruits, and vegetables right from when you are planning to conceive.
When your tummy goes back to its initial self after the baby, it is still not the time to do away with the cream, water, fruits, and vegetables. Remember it is about helping the skin to keep an elasticity it lacks naturally.
Then your self-esteem will be sky high.
