Yummy kiddie menus

If you are a food lover who needs to try out something new every now and then, then this recipe is totally yours. Here is an array of different dishes that will make your taste buds go bananas! Come on now, put on that apron and let’s go the heat room.

Potato wedges with stir fry vegetables

2 large potatoes
Oil to
2 heads cauliflower
2 carrots 15 French beans
3 baby corns
1/2 green pepper
1/2 red pepper
Salt to taste
1 tbsp olive oil

Preparation

• Clean and cut the potatoes into large wedges with the skins on.

• Brush with the oil, then grill in the oven until cooked and tender.

• Heat the oil in a frying pan and add all the remaining vegetables.

• Stir fry and season with salt.

• Serve them hot with the potato wedges.

Sweet potato mash

This is so delicious and can be used even for weaning.

1/2 kg sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into large chunks
2 tbsp butter melted
1 tbsp wholegrain mustard

Preparation

• Steam potatoes for 15-20 minutes until tender.

• Drain and pour in the butter.

• Mash until smooth and add syrup and mustard then serve with vegetables of your choice.

Gizzards with carrots and peas

Chef: “I don’t know if I am the only one who finds these little things a delicacy but trust me, if well cooked they are so tasty and will be a hit with your kids instantly.”

1/2 kg of gizzards well cleaned and trimmed of the fat
1 cup each boiled carrots and peas.
40 gm butter
Salt to taste
1 onion finely chopped
1 bunch coriander finely chopped
1 clove garlic crushed.

Preparation
• Melt the butter and pour in the chopped onion.
• Cook until transparent.
• Add the garlic and coriander and cook until browned.
• Fry the gizzards until a nice golden colour.
• Add the peas and carrots and let them fry until soft them fry then add 1/2 litre vegetable stock,
• simmer for 10 minutes and then serve.

Veggie Puree

Are you one of those who think vegetables are overrated?
What you may not know is that they help in baby’s digestion and truly does well for their small stomachs. Take a combination of vegetables of choice (but don’t use the traditional ones as yet) and steam them well for weaning and see how she reacts. Let’s try this recipe together.

What you need
2 bunches broccoli
3 carrots
2 leaves spinach A little milk

Preparation

• Since it is baby’s food, we don’t want to use fat in frying as yet

• Wash all your ingredients well under cold running water

• Peel and finely grate the carrots

• Put the vegetables together in one heavy based pan and steam them until tender

• Drain all the liquid and pour the mixture into a blender and gradually add milk as you blend.

• When ready to feed the baby, place in a hot water bath so that it doesn’t go cold.
