World’s Smallest Baby

A little girl who is believed to be the smallest surviving baby in the world has been sent home from the hospital.
Rumaisa Rahman was born weighing only 8.6 ounces (240g).  That’s about the size of a cellphone!
She was born at Loyola University Medical I Center in the Chicago suburb of Maywood.

World’s Biggest Newborn
A woman in Brazil has given birth to a “giant baby weighing 17pounds (8kg) – twice the size of an average newborn.
Ademilton dos Santos is the heaviest boy ever born in Brazil, says the ‘ Brazilian Gynaecological Association. The Guinness Book of World Records says the heaviest baby ever was born to Anna Bates of Canada in 1879.
The baby weighed 23.12pounds (l0.8kg) and died 11 hours after birth.

Longest Living Hydrocephalic
Theresa Alvina Schaan (USA) was born on 17 March, 1941 and diagnosed with having congenital hydrocephalus, also known as ‘water in the brain’, it is a condition in which there is extra cerebrospinal fluid (CFS) around the brain and spinal cord. A shunt was inserted beneath her skull to drain the spinal fluid accumulating in her head.
