Celebrating birth 21

My Experience
It started on Tuesday, 6th January 2009 at midday when I was attending antenatal exercises when I felt some stomach cramps. At first, I thought it was the trouser I wore that was pressing my stomach so thereafter, I went home and wore a dress but the cramps did not stop. Then I realised that I was bleeding and that was when I called my hubby to take me to the hospital.

At 2.00 pm I was 2 cm dilated. By 6pm waters broke and that was when the pressure to push began but I was advised not to push since I was still not 8cm dilated. That was very frustrating but I endured and at 8.30pm Baby Jonah was born. This time round it was easier and shorter compared to my labour and delivery two years ago when Baby Mina was born.

MY EXPERIENCE   Jane Awar
My water broke at 5am on 24th Nov 2008, but the interesting is that I wasn’t in pain. My doctor having asked me to check into hospital immediately to avoid contamination.
By 10am, I had only dilated 2cm, so I was induced on the basis that my slow labour was exposing us to infection.
What followed was the usual drama of extra-terrestrial pain but for 24 hours! At some point I shouted,”Why is he not coming out!!” and the doctor was answered, “It’s because you are not pushing. PUSH!”

I obeyed him with all my energy and at 5.45am 25 Nov 2008, Lucas Baraka was out weighing 3kg.
However, instead of crying, he was laughing which was at first funny. But when it went past 5 seconds I held my breath for a whole minute as the nurses went about clearing him up-and then he sweetly cried.
