Pregnant with life

Suddenly, everyone around you is pregnant: Mostly with child but with other things too. You could say: Children are pregnant with dreams. Teenagers are pregnant with broken dreams and contusion—‘When and should I say yes to sex or should I at all?* Post-teens are pregnant with shattered dreams and surprise— ‘Oh no. teen no more…so when did I get to 20 with nothing to show for it?’ Young ladies are pregnant with expectation— yearning for that young and handsome gentleman to ask her out to a drink, dinner or dance.

Men are pregnant with suspense

Young men are pregnant with suspense: ‘Will she say yes, maybe or pardon?’ The middle-aged career woman is pregnant with regret: ‘All these years gone, sacrifices made and for what? A wonderfully furnished corner office with no man. no kids and no real friends!’ The air is pregnant with pollution; the world is pregnant with crises: the stock market is pregnant with the ever elusive green, and thankfully, the recently read budget is pregnant with hope.

Pregnant with strength for today

Well, that’s them: guess who is truly pregnant? You dear mama, pregnant with strength for today: hope for tomorrow and dreams for a brilliant future. Yes. you are pregnant with an appetite, a craving and a fear but no) for the usual. An appetite for victory over both the fierce attacks of nausea as well at the evident day to day challenges of traffic jam. corruption and pollution. A craving for both the sweet old chocolate and a sweet, ripe future for the child(ren) inside you; a fear of injustice, insecurity and insincerity that evolves into a deep desire for justice, fairness and integrity.

Indeed pregnant with surprises!

Indeed pregnant with surprises! Pregnant with forgiveness for the bitterness that cripples the entire society and Pregnant with answers to the questions (fiat beg to be answered today). Pregnant with hope that eases the tension which curbs development and spurs insecurity: pregnant with resolution of the crises that incapacitate the human race: pregnant with a generation called innocence, purity or chastity; with a race that forgives for ‘we have come from far’ or ‘we are different but we shall live in harmony’. A race that knows the meaning of truth and reconciliation therefore believes in second chances; Pregnant with a multi-lingual generation that speaks a common language of love, peace and unity.

In a nutshell, you are pregnant with child, one who is alive and kicking, uninhibited and uncorrupted. Pregnant with life: a desire for whatever is noble, honourable and true as well as positive change and lasting peace.
