I am proud to be a mother! – Papa Shirandula’s wife says

They graced Pregnant Issue 10 Cover. Their baby boy, Charlie Lijina Bukeko (wearing white in the pictures above), was born on 23 November 2007.

You cannot say that motherhood is easy or hard; one just has to adopt a motherly nature and accept that it is your responsibility to look after your children.

I love the company that my two children offer me. They keep me busy making the days seem shorter. Most of the time, my work is centred on them and I am so happy to serve them—I am just proud to be a mother! It is a happy feeling when one is able to chip into stories when mothers are chatting—then, you know you will also be listened to as you talk about your own and offer advice.

Challenges abound too. When I was a first time mum, what puzzled me most were my baby’s cries: I would not know whether he was sick or hungry. It usually took me some time to finally resolve the issue and calm him down. However, the reward of having children is worth all the troubles you go through.

I must say that ‘a must have’ for any baby is ’lots of love’. Once this love is present, then you can do a lot for the baby. My greatest advice to first-time mums is to love their babies unconditionally and never be scared of the challenges that present themselves.

I hope my children will do well in life, and that they will succeed in all their endeavours.
